Second and Third series Reggae themes

These designs have echoes of Bob Marley Outernational Day and Reggae Club
reference songs such as;
Sun Is Shining
Rainbow Country
Soul Rebel
My latest designs reference the fact that many of Bob Marley's lyrics were based on Biblical teaching
The stenciled texts are quotes of Bob Marley,
several Proverbs from the Bible
and a lyric from Jessie Proverbs; "Chapter and Verse".

Jessie Proverbs at the Railway

Sometimes you have to take a weird photo
Ragtime for earlybirds who forgot what time it starts
General Justice plays a set heavy on Cronnix spiced with the latest big tunes
Mumma Trees drops some Beenie Man
Papa Flava serves up some dis but Jessie Proverbs is unmoved and reveals his new set.
Jessie may have to wait till his next tour for his bag (technical issues yet unresolved).
Plans are in the pipeline to have screen printed shoulder bags on sale in Fremantle soon.

Bob Marley Outernational Day concert theme designs

Got in early for max tunes. Nice welcome with some cool Mix-man dub to the warmer strains of Kaya. With golden sounds Outer-national girt by new talent and bands from New Zealand and East Timor. As a ticket holder rather than a stall holder I did not really get into promoting the bags.
Opening of Afrah Hussan's second solo exhibition on 2nd of July at Ellis house.
I recently saw a couple of Afrah's works exhibited there.....as well as seeing Afrah herself last weekend at church. A pleasant time to be had down by the Swan River.

Exhibiting at the Churchlands Art Exhibition

For the third year running I have exhibited work at the Churchlands Art Exhibition.
Here is a selection of pictures I took at or around the event;

My work has the orange background

Mural at Native Animal Rescue - project in the pipeline

Some cold calling led me to be offered the project of painting these shipping containers.
I was to collaborate on this project with fellow NMTAFE Adv Diploma Art graduates Luke Kelleher and Georgia Sherwood, but a recent development has the project on hold.

Native Animal Rescue's photo stock will provide a source for designs.

Residency of Marina Van Leeuwen

Fellow NMAFE art graduate Marina Van Leeuwen had a month long residency at Another art space. During her residency, Marina was investigating the built environment surrounding Another. From this she produced a series of prints, drawings, and photographs that respond to the minute everyday objects and textures she discovered.
I met up with Marina and she gave me a tour and we talked about what we were up to.

Save the Beeliar Wetlands theme

In February I printed up some bags In support of Roe 8 protesters so they would have a water bottle and a snack when out in the hot weather.

I donated the first bags at the Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre.
While out there I cut the stencils for my second batch of designs.

Concept collaboration with my brother Jon

This year kicked off with a project I worked on with my brother
The idea my brother had was a face made out of the words; "None so blind".
The screen printed tote bags
The proverb in full is; "There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See"
It resembles the Biblical verse Jeremiah 5:21 (‘Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not’)
I designed and printed other variations on this theme.
